LEED-EBOM

LEED-EBOM Gold Certification

After an in-depth evaluation by the U.S. Green Building Council, the organization that sets the standards and categories for LEED (Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design) certification, InterContinental San Francisco was awarded with LEED Gold certification in the Existing Buildings: Operations and Maintenance (EBOM) category.

Although our current practices meet LEED's strict selection process, we are committed to improving and evolving our green policies to reach even higher levels of compliance, while continuing to set the standard of sustainability among premium green hotels in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Green Transportation

“Roughly half of all the energy used in California is used by the transportation sector. We use more than 16.5 billion gallons of gasoline a year. That's enough to drive a car—getting 30 miles per gallon—to make more than 2,600 roundtrips to the sun.

We all know to turn off lights when we leave a room, and we all know about recycling beverage containers. But few of us think twice about hopping in the car for a quick trip to the market and then another trip to the bank and then another trip to the clothing store. And we rarely think about the cost of a gallon of gasoline or diesel unless the prices get too high.”
–California Energy Commission

Gasoline costs us more than our money. With this tool, InterContinental San Francisco gives you the power to choose the “greenest” way to get around San Francisco and California, using a car only when necessary.
